Hotkeys
On a Mac, ⌘ stands in for Ctrl everywhere below unless a row says
otherwise.
On the canvas
The canvas takes these keys while focus is on it (or on nothing in particular). They do nothing while you are typing in a note, a field or the chat.
| Keys | What they do |
|---|---|
V |
Select mode: click blocks to select them, drag to box-select. |
H |
Hand mode: drag anywhere to move around. |
hold Space |
Pan while held, in either mode. |
⌘/Ctrl+A |
Select every block. |
Esc |
Clear the selection, or close an expanded block. |
Enter |
Open the one selected block: a note to write in, a group, a picture, a repository; a link or a file expands in a panel over the canvas. |
Delete or Backspace |
Delete the selected blocks (Yard asks first). |
| arrow keys | Nudge the selection by 1 pixel. |
Shift + arrow keys |
Nudge by 10 pixels. |
⌘/Ctrl+G |
Group the selected blocks. |
⌘/Ctrl+Shift+G |
Ungroup the selected group. |
⌘/Ctrl+Z |
Undo. |
⌘/Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y |
Redo. |
Shift + click |
Add a block to the selection, or take it out. |
⌘/Ctrl + wheel, or pinch |
Zoom. |
| wheel | Pan; over a selected block that scrolls, scroll it. |
Try the selection and group keys in the canvas basics tutorial.
In notes and specs
Notes and specs use the same editor. Besides the usual text keys:
| Keys | What they do |
|---|---|
/ |
Open the block menu: text, headings, lists, a checklist, a quote, code, a divider, an image or file; in a project's spec also a reference to a block and a mention of a repository. |
@ |
In a project's spec: mention a block, a file or a repository. |
↑ ↓, then Enter or Tab |
Choose in the / or @ menu; Esc closes it. |
⌘/Ctrl+/ |
Open the menu of the block the caret is in (turn it into another kind, move or delete it). |
⌘/Ctrl+Shift+↑ / ↓ |
Move the block the caret is in up or down. |
⌘/Ctrl+B, ⌘/Ctrl+I |
Bold, italic. |
⌘/Ctrl+Z, ⌘/Ctrl+Shift+Z |
Undo and redo your own changes (other people's edits stay). |
Esc |
Close a note that is open in the panel over the canvas; while dragging a block of the note, cancel the drag. |
Markdown shortcuts work as you type: # to ### for headings, - or
* for a list, 1. for a numbered list, [ ] for a checklist, > for
a quote and ``` for code.
In chat and dialogs
| Keys | What they do |
|---|---|
Enter |
Send the message. While the agent is working it waits in the queue and goes next. |
Shift+Enter |
A new line in the message. |
⌘/Ctrl+Enter |
In Create spec: create the project. |
⌘/Ctrl+Enter |
In the note under the agent's questions: send the answers. Enter is a new line there. |
In files
| Keys | What they do |
|---|---|
⌘/Ctrl+S |
Save the file you are editing. |
In terminals
| Keys | What they do |
|---|---|
⌘C (Mac) or Ctrl+C with text selected |
Copy the selection. Without a selection Ctrl+C interrupts the running program, as in any terminal. |
Ctrl+Shift+C |
Copy the selection, always. |
⌘V (Mac), Ctrl+V or Ctrl+Shift+V |
Paste. |
