Terms of Service
In short.
- Your content and code stay yours. We only use them to run the Service for you.
- AI agents act with your accounts and at your direction. Review what they produce before you merge it: you are responsible for it.
- Runners execute code. Only register runners you control, and only give workspace access to people you trust.
- Do not use Yard to break the law, attack systems or abuse shared machines.
1. The agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and Yard ("Yard", "we", "us") for your use of the service at useyard.app, its API and its runner software (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you accept them. If you use the Service for a company or other organization, you accept them for that organization and confirm you are allowed to.
You must be at least 16 years old, and old enough to enter a contract where you live, to use the Service.
2. Accounts and organizations
- Give accurate information, keep your password secret, and tell us promptly if you think your account has been used by someone else. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- An organization's owners and admins control it: they invite and remove members, set roles, connect repositories, register runners and configure storage. If you join an organization, its owners and admins can see and manage the work you do in it.
- One person per account. Do not share sign-ins.
3. Your content
"Your content" is everything you or your organization put into the Service or create with it: canvases, notes, files, specs, chat messages, source code and the changes made to it. You keep all rights in your content. You give Yard a limited licence to host, copy, transmit and display it only as needed to provide the Service to you and the people you share it with.
You confirm that you have the rights needed to put your content into the Service, including the right to give AI agents access to the repositories you mount.
We do not use your content to train AI models.
4. AI agents and their output
- Yard runs third-party AI coding agents (such as Claude Code, Codex and Cursor) inside containers on a runner, using the account you signed in with at that agent's provider. Your use of an agent is also governed by your agreement with its provider, including its usage limits, fees and policies. Yard is not a party to that agreement and is not responsible for the provider's service.
- Agents act on your instructions and with your permissions. They can read the workspace they run in and change files and code in their project. They do not push or open pull requests: a person does that, and it is done in that person's name.
- AI output can be wrong. Specs, code and other output may be inaccurate, insecure, incomplete, or similar to existing material. You are responsible for reviewing, testing and deciding whether to use, commit or merge anything an agent produces, and for the consequences of doing so.
- As between you and Yard, output produced for you is your content, to the extent the law and the agent provider's terms allow.
5. Runners
- A runner is a machine that hosts workspaces and executes code: shells, agents and anything in your repositories. If you register your own runner, you are responsible for that machine, its network, its security and its costs, and you understand that the Service will run the code that your organization's members start on it.
- Only install the runner on machines you are allowed to use for this, and keep the runner token secret.
- On runners operated by Yard, do not attempt to break out of containers, reach other customers' data, mine cryptocurrency, or use them for work unrelated to your workspaces. We may limit or stop workloads that harm others.
6. GitHub, storage and other services
When you connect GitHub or configure a storage bucket, you authorise Yard to act on those services for you as described in the app: read the repositories you choose, push branches and open or merge pull requests when you ask, and read and write workspace files in your bucket. Those services are governed by their own terms, and you are responsible for your accounts with them.
7. Acceptable use
You will not, and will not let anyone else, use the Service to:
- break the law or infringe anyone's rights, including intellectual property and privacy rights;
- upload or run malware, or attack, scan or disrupt systems you do not own or have permission to test;
- access another organization's data, or probe or bypass the Service's security or usage limits;
- send spam, or create accounts by automated means;
- resell the Service or offer it to others as your own, unless we have agreed to that in writing;
- use an AI agent in a way its provider prohibits.
8. The software
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service under these terms. The Service, its design and its name belong to Yard. Open-source components are licensed under their own licences. If you send us feedback, we may use it without obligation to you.
9. Fees
The Service is currently offered without charge. If we introduce paid plans, we will show the prices and terms before you are charged, and nothing will be charged without your agreement. Costs of services you bring yourself (agent providers, GitHub, storage, your own runners) are yours.
10. Availability and changes
The Service is under active development. Features may change, and we do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. We will give reasonable notice before removing something you are likely to depend on. Keep your own copies of anything important: your repositories remain on your git host, and you can configure your own storage bucket.
11. Ending the agreement
- You can stop using the Service and delete your account or organization at any time.
- We may suspend or end access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service or others. Where we reasonably can, we will warn you first and give you a chance to fix it.
- After the agreement ends, your content is deleted according to the retention described in the Privacy Policy. Content on runners and buckets you operate stays with you.
12. Disclaimer
The Service, including everything AI agents produce through it, is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, Yard disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under consumer law that cannot be waived.
13. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Yard is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from the Service; and Yard's total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amounts you paid Yard for the Service in the twelve months before the claim and 100 US dollars. These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be limited by law.
14. Your responsibility to us
If someone brings a claim against Yard because of your content, the code you run, or your breach of these terms, you will cover Yard's reasonable costs and losses from that claim, to the extent the law allows.
15. General
- Changes to these terms. We may update them. If a change matters, we will tell account holders by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept it.
- Law and disputes. These terms are governed by the law of the place where the operator of the Service is established, and disputes go to the courts there, unless the law where you live gives you other rights.
- The rest. If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer this agreement without our consent.
