Groups and contexts
A group gathers blocks that belong together, such as "UI rules" or "Customer feedback", into one named card on the canvas. The blocks inside show as small tiles. A group is handy on its own, and it is a quick way to hand a whole topic to an agent. Agents make groups too: when one puts several notes, code excerpts and pictures on the canvas, it gathers each topic into a titled group.
Making a group
- Select two or more blocks and press
⌘/Ctrl+G, or Group in the selection bar. The group appears where the blocks were and they move into it. - Choose Add → Group in the toolbar, or press
⌘/Ctrl+Gwith nothing selected, for an empty group. Then drop blocks on it.
Either way the name field opens straight away: type a name and press
Enter. Grouping is one step, so one Undo takes it back.
Adding and taking out blocks
- Drag blocks onto a group to move them in. Yard asks first, since they leave the canvas and live inside the group.
- Drag a tile out of a group and let go on the canvas to take it out. Yard asks first here too. Let go over another group and it moves there instead.
- In an opened group, Move out to canvas puts a block back beside the group.
Projects that linked a block keep the link when it moves in or out of a group.
Opening, renaming and ungrouping
- Open: double-click the group, press
Enter, or choose Expand. The panel that opens over the canvas lists its blocks; click one to read it, or to edit a note right there. - Rename: double-click the group's name, or choose Rename from its
… menu.
Esckeeps the old name. - Ungroup: press
⌘/Ctrl+Shift+Gwith the group selected, or choose Ungroup from its … menu. Its blocks go back on the canvas where the group was, and stay selected.
Deleting a group deletes what is inside it. Yard says how many blocks go before you confirm.
Groups inside groups
A group can hold another group. Because nested groups are harder to follow, Yard warns first and asks you to Nest anyway. A group can never go inside itself or one of its own members.
Inside a group, a nested group is a single tile. Open the outer group, pick the inner one to see its contents, and choose Open this group to go one level in.
Canvases inside canvases
Each project has a canvas of its own, beside the workspace canvas. Blocks you link into a project appear there, and blocks made there can be taken back into the workspace. See projects and specs.
What an agent sees as context
Agents work from context: the blocks you point them at.
- Your selection. Select blocks and the chat's context line and Create spec → use them. A selected group brings everything inside it.
- Nothing selected. On the workspace canvas only the pinned blocks are the chat's context. In a project, everything linked to it is.
- Pinned blocks. Pin a block from its … menu, and it is always
part of the agent's context in this workspace and of every new project.
Pinned blocks have a striped border and a
PINNEDmarker on the canvas.
See chat for how context shows in a conversation, and pointing agents for a walkthrough.
Not available yet
Groups belong to one canvas. Contexts shared across an entire organization, such as a "Branding" set every workspace can use, are planned but not built yet. Neither are groups that open as a canvas of their own.
